Headwear

Wearing a hat in the wintertime to keep you warm isn't just an old wives tale. By covering your head, you are eliminating one of the largest sources of heat loss on your body. As an added bonus, are also helping to keep your ears warm and hiding your unruly mass of hiker's hair. A warm winter hat may not help your hair do, but you will absolutely notice a difference in your overall warmth. Even a thin wool hat will warm you up but if you are in for the long haul, deep into the heart of winter, consider a thick fleece or even a down hat. Whether you are hiking with your hat on or just using it to keep your head warm at night, it will be an excellent addition to your gear set up.
